Higher Education Readiness (HER)
HER in EthiopiaAround the world, 62 million girls do not have access to the education they deserve. In Ethiopia, for every 100 boys in secondary school there are only 77 girls. These statistics are staggering, and the disparity is even greater at the university level: according to UNESCO, traditionally there are four times more male students than female students.
You can help us change this. The Institute of International Education (IIE) provides financial and academic support as well as mentorship and leadership training to young Ethiopian girls in secondary school, through our Higher Education Readiness (HER) Program. HER is helping the girls stay in school and continue to university where they will achieve academic success.
